Thanks Chuck....now for latest problem.
1. I continuously get a system alarm "Lost AIS Connection". The system alarms every 20 seconds...then is silent for hours. 2. On the E-120, in the icon box. I now have the AIS "green barb" with a red X....under the barb it say AIS. Cannot find any reference to this icon. Thanks!! |

RE: E-120 Version 5.69 Interface to AIS 650
Rick,
Q1. I continuously get a system alarm "Lost AIS Connection". The system alarms every 20 seconds...then is silent for hours. A1. Please indicate whether the system has been interfaced to more than one source of GPS data. Please additionally attach a system diagram identifying the makes and models of each of the marine electronics devices within the system (including computers / tablets running navigational planning / chartplotting applications) may be to this thread for further analysis. The diagram should additionally identify how these devices have been interfaced to one another. Q2. On the E-120, in the icon box. I now have the AIS "green barb" with a red X....under the barb it say AIS. Cannot find any reference to this icon. A2. Please take a photo of the MFD's screen showing the referenced AIS status for clarification of the reported issue. |

Chuck.....
1, Attached is a photo of the E120 display showing the AIS status referenced above 2. The AIS has its dedicated GPS receiver interfaced directly to the 650. No additional peripherals are in the system...tablets, smartphones ipads etc. |

RE: E-120 Version 5.69 Interface to AIS 650
Rick,
As the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words" ... the AIS status icon indicating that the AIS is not operating in Silent Mode (i.e. it is transmitting your vessel's AIS data) and that the AIS Dangerous Targets Alarm has been configured OFF. Should the AIS650 not receive a heartbeat message periodically from the E120 MFD, then the reported AIS Connection Lost alarm will occur. The first action in resolving the issue would be to verify that: 1) the AIS650 has been updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update 2) that the AIS650 has NOT been configured to transmit NMEA 0183 GNSS sentences along with the NMEA 0183 AIS sentences being transmitted to the MFD ... it will be necessary to interface the AIS650 to a PC via a USB cable and then to run the ProAIS2 software to verify/modify this setting 3) intermittent NMEA 0183 cabling connections between the MFD and the AIS650 Should all of the above have been verified/addressed and should the problem persist, then it would be recommended that the AIS650 be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. |

RE: E-120 Version 5.69 Interface to AIS 650
Latest AIS 650 software loaded and it cleared all the anomalies noted with previous software version. All is well. Thank you Chuck for all your help with this install.
