[TG] Advice - Experience with WiFish

Hello All - I used the Wi-Fish feature for the first time via a Dragonfly Pro and it appears to be very useful. It seems to be a means to get much more screen for very few if any dollars. (since I have a tablet laying around).

I would like to see the map + sonar + down scan so I'm thinking of using the tablet for sonar/down scan split screen and the Dragonfly for mapping. If I recall correctly the Wi-Fish does not share the map view, just sonar / down vision.

Please share you experiences or ideas for using Wi-Fish, in my case I am bass fishing. For this test I had the tablet connected to my console unit so when at the front I could see the rear transducer image as well as the trolling motor mounted unit on it's screen. I wonder if there is an advantage to leaving it this way?

Hello BamaJohn,

You're correct that the Dragonfly doesn't share its chart over Wifi, so using the Dragonfly on the chart page and the Wi-Fish app on sonar/DownVision is one way of doing it.

The other way is to use the Navionics Boating app on your tablet, which can do both chart-plotting and receives the Dragonfly's sonar data, so can view all 3 at once.
As well as displaying all 3 data-types the tablet, this has the added benefit that you can see the high-resolution personalised contour data of SonarCharts Live on the tablet. Thanks Tom - I think I will try the HD app, would I need the $49 version after the 2 week trial? I don't mind spending $49 but some of the Navionics plans are more than I am willing to pay. I fish for fun and will probably not go to more than two lakes.

I would recommend speaking with Navionics about exactly what capabilities are in what distributions of their apps, but I believe that it will work on any up-to-date version of the Navionics Boating app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/devel...Navionics, for Android.) I have Boating Australia&NZ on my Android phone and that works nicely. The release notes for each app on the Play Market/App Store give more detail.
