RE: [CA] E120W Hybrid problem with Sonar
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bert,

If the transducer is an in-hull transducer, then the transducer's reservoir should be inspected to ensure that it is full. Should the symptom shown on the display occur when the vessel is in the water and the depth of the water is at least 3' beneath the transducer, but not exceeding the maximum depth supported by the transducer and sounder module, then the symptom would typically be indicative of a problem with the sounder module necessitating that it be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Thanks Chuck,
Before sending it in is there any simple tests I can run?

Bert,

Should the system have been operated under the conditions specified within my initial response, then the symptoms are almost certainly those of a failing DSM. Short of connecting another compatible transducer to the DSM and suspending it over the side of the hull, no other testing may be performed in the field to the DSM.

Thanks Chuck...I will check the reservoir, if full will send it back. BTW any idea cost for typical diagnostic and repair on DSM?

Bert,

The bench check fee is $90. Should any repairs of replacements be required, then this fee will be applied to the repair or replacement of the DSM. For all but C-Series Classic MFDs, it is strongly recommended that failing DSM be replaced with a CP370 Sounder Module.
