Axiom9 to VHF Interface
Can the Axiom interface with a VHF radio via NMEA 0183 directly or does a network have to be installed?

RE: Axiom9 to VHF Interface
Hello Wayne,
NMEA0183 is pretty ancient now and can cause big connection headaches so we're phasing it out (I can't wait for it to die, frankly!), and so Axiom doesn't have an 0183 connection. If your radio doesn't have an NMEA2000 capability then you'd need an NMEA0183-NMEA2000 convertor. If your radio is a Raymarine then you can use our convertor part E70196 (plus an STNG to Devicenet adaptor cable part A06075 to go to the Axiom itself), but this isn't suitable for non-Raymarine radios because it's non-isolated (in which case something like the Actisense NGW-1 should do the job.) Regards, Tom Raymarine since 1999. Interests: Diagnosis of problems in sonar/fishfinders, NMEA2000, ethernet comms, autopilots, thermal cameras Location: Sydney, Australia. Please don't PM me asking for direct support, please ask a public question instead so that others can see the question and answer. Forum posts will always be answered before PM requests. |
