RS125 & Axiom Pro12
Can my RS125 from my old system provide a GPS signal to my Axiom Pro?

Star RE: RS125 & Axiom Pro12
Hello carlmk,

Yes, but you need to know whether you have the RS125 or RS125+. They were the same GPS with difference cabling/data connections. The RS125 would do either Seatalk1 or NMEA0183, the RS125+ was supplied with a convertor to output SeatalkNG/NMEA2000. The Axiom Pro can take either NMEA0183 or NMEA2000.

Frankly though, my advice would be to skip the RS125 and use a GA150 external passive antenna (if required) and the Axiom Pro's internal GPS receiver. The Axiom Pro's internal GPS is more sensitive, more accurate, faster to acquire, more noise-tolerant and gives position/COG/SOG updates 10x faster than the old decade-old RS125 design.

Regards,
Tom
