[TG11] ST50 wind to NMEA 2000
Hello,
I am planning to integrate an old ST50 wind instrument into my NMEA 2000 network and need confirm my understanding after reading this sticky thread (http://forum.raymarine.com/showthread.php?tid=229) Can I directly interface the ST50 instrument seatalk cable connection with a device like the actisense NGW-1 ISO (stripping the seatalk cable and using a terminal block to connect both ends)? Thanks |

RE: [TG11] ST50 wind to NMEA 2000
Hello Laurent,
ST50 instruments talk Seatalk (Raymarine-proprietary), whereas the NGW-1 talks NMEA0183 and NMEA2000. NMEA0183 and Seatalk are very different - an NGW-1 won't talk Seatalk, don't try it or you could perhaps damage the NGW-1. Seatalk is not just 0183 under another name. You need a Raymarine Seatalk1-SeatalkNG convertor, part E22158, to convert ST50 to NMEA2000/STNG. Regards, Tom Raymarine since 1999.
