[CA11] New Project
We just bought a new boat which is being made right now and are considering an upgrade to the standard electronics that comes with the boat.
Boat Characteristics: planning powerboat, 66 foot, fiberglass hull, cruising speed: 20 kts, with flybridge. It’s a recreational boat but used for offshore fishing occasionally. STANDARD EQUIPMENT (Not Yet Purchased): AXIOM 9â€RV (Cabin) AXIOM 9â€Display only (Cabin) AXIOM 12†RV (Flybridge) Chart MSD/NAV+ 3XG Cable Raynet 2M (x2) Cable Raynet 20M HS5 Network Switch QUANTUM Radar Antenna with power cable 10M VHF Radio RAY50 (x2) VHF Antenna (x2) Inox Base (x2) RV to DV Sensor Adapter Transducer CPT-S Thru Hull Transducer extension cable 4M Autopilot Control Head P70Rs (x2) ACU-200 EV-1 Hydraulic Unit T1 5 Way Sting Block (x4) Cable BB 20M SeaTalk Spur Cable 3M (x4) Spur Cable 5M Terminator (x2) Power Cable NG Backbone Cable SeaTalk NG 1M (x2) NMEA2000 to AXIOM Adaptor (x3) DESIRED EQUIPMENT: Starting from standard electronics list, we decided to increase the Flybridge screen from 12" to 16" and improve the sonar/fishfinder, since the standard transducer is very simple and does not explore all available features. Chatting with some friends they recommended: Sonar Module (CP470) and a more powerful transducer (1000W), being recommended the model B265LM (Part No. A80011) that has low and medium frequencies CHIRP, giving a good exploration of the bottom in the greater depths. In addition, in order to take advantage of the features that are already integrated in the RV display (Real Vision, 3D, Side Vision, etc.), they recommend adding a pair of RV-220 transducer (T70319) exploring high frequency CHIRP for shallower depths. Main Doubts: 1. Any incompatibility with the B265LM and the RV-220 transducers? Can the frequency of one interfere with the frequency of the other? 2. Would the B265LH be better than the B265LM? 3. Any other suggested configuration to explore RV 3D, DownVision, etc. in shallow waters plus a low frequency CHIRP with 1000W for deeper waters? 4. Any other upgrade suggestions that are worth it? |

RE: [CA11] New Project
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum XandeGuedes,
Q1. Any incompatibility with the B265LM and the RV-220 transducers? Can the frequency of one interfere with the frequency of the other? A1. The frequencies (kHz) of the B265LM are L: 42-65 / M: 85-135. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing the frequencies used by RV/DownVision transducers. While it minor interference may occur where the frequencies of the transducers overlap, there would be no frequency overlap with the specified transducer. Q2. Would the B265LH be better than the B265LM? A2. Negative Q3. Any other suggested configuration to explore RV 3D, DownVision, etc. in shallow waters plus a low frequency CHIRP with 1000W for deeper waters? A3. Negative. You appear to have done your homework with respect to equipment selection. Q4. Any other upgrade suggestions that are worth it? A4. I favor the Quantum 2 over the Quantum radome with respect to the situational awareness provided by its Doppler features with respect to identifying vessel's which are closing range with your vessel ... without any interaction by the operator as would be required for the MARPA feature. To ensure that you have selected the correct autopilot, what is the cubic capacity of the vessel's steering ram? |
