What are these lines?
I just installed an Evolution EV 100 that is hooked up to my A98 MFD.
I only got to try it for a few minutes as it was a little too rough for an extended test session.
I now have two lines vectoring from the boats position on the screen. One is green and one red. They go in different directions but tend to merge together and cross as I turn to starboard.
I'm assuming one is the direction the boat is facing as seen by the EV 100 compass and the other is the direction the boat is actually moving as seen by the GPS.
I realize that there will always be some deviation between these two but should I be looking to correct most of this through the compass linearization process or is this normal?

Thanks

RE: What are these lines?
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Vettepro,

The COG vector is denoted by a green line and the Heading vector is denoted by a red line. The Evolution autopilot system does not have a specific Seatrial calibration, you are to do the Dockside Wizard, then take the boat out for a 15-20 minute cruise, doing a few circles and figure 8's to show the system all the points on the compass rose, keeping the speed between 3-15 knots. While out on the water, press Menu>Setup>Diagnostics>About Pilot, scroll to the very bottom of the page to look at the Deviation. If it is within 15 degrees, you are done. If not, then you should seek and alternate location for the EV-1 Sensor Core. Heading adjustment may then be performed via the autopilot control head.
