[CA11] MFD upgrade from E127 to gS165
I am upgrading from a e127 MFD (2013) to a gS165 MFD with Lighthouse II. Can I just replace the old GPS with the new RS150 GNSS and then plug in the existing wiring from the old unit to the new unit?
I have an AIS350/AIS650 as well as the original ST60 instruments (2007). The instructions call for a 4.7 version or later. Are they referring to the navionics charts? Thanks for any input or advice... |

RE: [CA11] MFD upgrade from E127 to gS165
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum BB523,
With regard to power, NMEA 0183, and analog video interfaces, replacing an e-Series MFD with a gS-Series MFD is simply a matter of unplugging the e-Series MFDs Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable from the e-Series MFD and plugging it into the corresponding socket of the gS-Series MFD. With regard to Ethernet interfaces, replacing an e-Series MFD with a gS-Series MFD is simply a matter of unplugging the Ethernet Network Cable(s) from the e-Series MFD and plugging it into the Ethernet Network socket(s) of the gS-Series MFD. With regard to SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 interfaces, replacing an e-Series MFD with a gS-Series MFD is simply a matter of unplugging the SeaTalkng Spur Cable from the e-Series MFD and plugging it into the SeaTalkng spur socket of the gS-Series MFD. The gS-Series MFDs do not feature internal fishfinder processing circuity. Accordingly, should a fishfinder transducer presently be interfaced to the e127 MFD, then you may want to simply consider relocating the e127 MFD to another location onboard the vessel. The e127 MFD may be interfaced to the gS-Series MFD or system's HS5 RayNet Network Switch (if any) via an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable. Alternatively, the currently installed transducer may be adapted to be mated to a CP370 Digital Sounder Module, which in turn may be interfaced to the gS-Series MFD or system's HS5 RayNet Network Switch (if any) via an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable. Should both MFDs remain within the system, then the software within each MFD should be updated to LightHouse II v19.03. Should the e127 be removed from the system, then you may want to consider updating the gS-Series MFD's software with the latest available LightHouse 3 software (v3.8.105 at the time of this response). |
