[CA11] Lighthouse 3.x vs E classic questions
Hi there,
A few questions about how the Lighthouse 3.x software treats overlaying objects on the display. The basis of the questions is how an E classic display treats overlaying objects. For an E classic display, imagine a situation where the COG vector, heading vector, wind vector and current vector are displayed. And now an AIS target of interest overlays any of the vectors. If the cursor is moved to highlight the AIS target, the plotter places a priority of popping a label box to denote the overlaying vector object, for example, the box “COG†appears for the COG vector. It is impossible to select the AIS target until the overlap no longer exists, rather annoying as the user knows what the vector is, what’s of interest is the AIS target and its detailed data. Is this same behavior also true with the current Lighthouse 3.x software? If so, any suggestions about how to work around this behavior? Lothar |

RE: [CA11] Lighthouse 3.x vs E classic questions
Welcome back to the Raymarine Forum Lothar,
After having configured my Axiom Pro MFD running the LightHouse 3 v3.10.71 software to receive and plot AIS targets as well as infinite Heading and COG vectors, I was unable to duplicate the reported behavior within the Axiom Pro MFD with an AIS target overlaid atop one of these vectors. Each time that the AIS target icon was touched, data associated with the AIS target was displayed. From the standpoint of layering, the AIS transparent target icons appear to graphically overlay the vectors. |

Thanks Chuck.
One more comparison. On the E classics, the infinite heading and COG vectors won’t appear if you displace the ship off the chart. With the Axiom and Lighthouse software, does the infinite vectors still appear even if the ship is off the chart? |

RE: [CA11] Lighthouse 3.x vs E classic questions
Lothar,
Q. With the Axiom and Lighthouse software, does the infinite vectors still appear even if the ship is off the chart? A. Should the MFD have been updated with LightHouse 3 v3.10.71 or later, then the COG and heading vectors will indeed be extended as the Chart application's screen is panned. |

Great, thanks.
Another comparison: in the E Classic, the data box parameter for ‘XTE’ provides no sense of off-course to port or starboard. Does the Lighthouse software provide a direction for XTE. Similarly, for an AIS target, does Lighthouse software provide a sense of direction for the CPA, ie, can you tell whether it will come close ahead or behind your COG? |

RE: [CA11] Lighthouse 3.x vs E classic questions
Lothar,
Q1. in the E Classic, the data box parameter for ‘XTE’ provides no sense of off-course to port or starboard. Does the Lighthouse software provide a direction for XTE. A1. Negative ... although this would be a good feature request and will be logged accordingly for consideration to be included within a future LightHouse 3 software update. Please click here more information concerning Feature suggestions. Q2. Similarly, for an AIS target, does Lighthouse software provide a sense of direction for the CPA, ie, can you tell whether it will come close ahead or behind your COG? A2. This is part of the collision avoidance feature within MFDs running LightHouse 3 and LightHouse 3 software. More details of this feature may be found within the collision avoidance sections of both the LightHouse 3 and LightHouse 2 Advanced Operations Guides. |
