E120 Classic and Rd424D.. Not found
I am having a problem with a recent upgrade on a customer's boat. He is running the latest software on the E120 Classic. More than 95% of the time, the head unit will not find the radar on the network--via an older network switch and an adapter cable from seatalk hs to Raynet as an input to network switch. No option for emit/standby, rather, just an option to turn on and off the radar-----that NEVER finds the radar no matter how many times you initiate the "on" option.
Obviously with a new 5m radar cable and the adapter cable to get into the older network switch, I cannot come to any conclusion as to why the radar is unable to connect to the plotter. As a final note, we replaced his 9 year old 24" dome last Dec for non-communication issues as well. But that was connected, as you know, to the radar input connector on the back of the E120...NOT via a network switch. His network has a very rarely used 2xE80's, DSM300, and now the digital radar. On the seatalk2 connection is an off-brand N2K autopilot and 2-Volvo IB's. This system until Dec was flawless other than a non-communicative analog radar. Boat is in impeccable condition all top-tier installation requirements met in 2008. What I've tried.. -- 14v.4 DC observed (connected to shore power) -- multiple inputs chosen on network switch. -- power cycling entire 12v system, has not worked consistently Is this old software in the radar dome? Bad board in the plotter? Does the radar need its own power switch? |

RE: E120 Classic and Rd424D.. Not found
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Oregoncme,
Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. It is recommended that all Digital/HD Digital Radomes and HD/Super HD Open Arrays be powered via a dedicated switch or breaker. In systems such as this, it may be advisable that the radome not be powered ON until the MFDs have completed boot-up initialization. Should cycling power to the radome alone within this system not then permit communications, then it would be recommended that the radome be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. |
