As indicated within the FAQ found here, Mercury Marine's SmartCraft to NMEA 2000 Engine Gateway is recommended when interfacing SmartCraft equipped Mercury Marine engine systems to Raymarine MFDs. Then engine manufacturer's backbone must be powered per the engine manufacturer's instructions and must be isolated (engine gateways perform this function) from the marine electronics powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone
