[CA11] Replacing older electronics system with new
Our 2000 Hunter 450 Center Cockpit sailboat has the following outdated equipment:
*Raytheon ST-60 Depth, Speed, Wind and Multi (looking to keep this temporarily) *Raystar 120 GPA Receiver (120/112LP 120 DGPS/SD Sat. Dif. GPS WASS) *Pathfinder 4D 24" 4kw Radome Scanner *Raymarine Color Chartplotter 530 (HSB2 Plus - overlays with Radar) plus C-Maps *Raytheon 220 VHF Radio with fog/hailer *Raytheon 7001 below deck autopilot with Whitlock autopilot motor *Type150/400 Autopilot System *ST600R Autopilot Control Unit *Raytheon Color RL 70 C, & 4D 24 4 kw 48 mile radar at nav station (HSB2 Plus - overlays with chartplotter *Raytheon 52 VHF Radio at Nav Station *Raymarine PC Interface Our system has 2 chartplotters one at the helm and the other at the Nav station obviously very out of date and we'd like to replace the current system with an Axiom. We have been reading about many mariners using Ipads in conjunction with GPS. Our question is what all in a new system is critical and what of our current system can we continue to use until the next time our boat come out and we can replace the transducer. We have the seatalk relay which to some degree still needs to be used or changed or something in order to bring all these new electronics together. We realize and new radar mount is a must with the Axiom system. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated. At some point my husband will chime in and answer or ask additional questions for an expert to answer. Many thanks in advance! Laurie Champion |
