[CA11] Raymarine A128 and S1G to NMEA 2000
I have a 1998 Sea Ray that originally came with a Type 100 AP and a 650 Raypilot head. On the boat I have three Garmin 741xs units, two Fox Marine MEFI engine gateways and some other smaller equipment all on a NMEA 2000 backbone. I connected the NMEA 0183 I/O wires from one of the Garmins to the Type 100 NMEA 0183 ports and the autopilot worked well.
Earlier this year I purchased a P70R controller directly from Raymarine and a S1G AP used from Ebay. From reading an earlier post from Chuck, I knew the S1G allowed me to use the P70R and keep my existing autopilot wiring, pump, rudder sensor and fluxgate. Since I had no other Seatalk equipment I just used a Seatalk junction block and Seatalk to Seatalkng cable to the P70 and it works great. The P70R controller shows the course and waypoint name from the Garmin and the S1G tracks straight and true. The Garmins do not have the ability to control the AP but provide data via the 0183. So finally the question... Saturday I ordered an A128 MFD directly from Raymarine and want to add it to the NMEA 2000 backbone as well as have it share control of the S1G autopilot. Can I use the Converter kit #E22158 and connect the S1G to the yellow port, the A128 and P70R to the white ports and then the blue port (with terminator and devicenet female) to the end of my existing NMEA 2000 backbone? Will I still need the 0183 connection to the Garmin? Thank you in advance, Tim Daleo |
