RE: [CA11] C Series 12"W MFD power cycling issue & Power Button Issue
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Matt,

For the benefit of those who are viewing this thread, the subject display appears to be a c-Series (note the letter case) MFD. These included the c95, c97, c125, and c127 MFDs. The c-Series MFD model names ending in 7 featured internal 600W 50kHz/200kHz fishfinder sonar circuitry permitting them to be directly mated to a compatible fishfinder transducer.

Q1. While trying to dim screen, when turning control knob CCW screen starts to dim (~50%) then while still turning CCW, screen goes full bright.
A1. This symptom may be indicative insufficient power, of a failure of the MFD's UniController and/or other internal circuitry, and/or a problem with the chart card. It is recommended that the vessel be connected to shore power, that its batteries be permitted to attain a fully charged state, that the chart card(s) be removed from the system, and that after which and while still connected to shore power, that the MFD's backlighting adjustment be tested again. Should the problem persist when so tested, then the MFD should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. Should be problem not be able to be duplicated when tested as directed, then it would be recommended that the chart card be re-inserted into the MFD's memory card reader and that the system be tested again. Should the problem persist, then it would be recommended that the MFD's memory card reader be tested by inserting a blank microSD memory card (up to 32GB microSD memory cards may be used with the MFD) into the MFD's memory card reader and testing the MFD's ability to save a screen capture file to the microSD memory card (POWER->SCREEN CAPTURE). The MFD will report if it is successful. If not, then the MFD's memory card reader would be deemed to have suffered a failure and should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. Should the MFD's memory card reader be determined to be operational, then it would be recommended that the chart card's contents be updated or that the chart card be replaced.

Q2. Screen appears to power cycle, screen goes Black then displays RM booting up screen w RM FLIR Logo & C-Series at top & LighthouseII at bottom. This lasts for ~10sec then chart display returns.|
A2. This can be associated with the above listed failures. With the microSD memory cards removed from the MFD's memory card reader, command the MFD to perform a Power ON System Settings & Data Reset. Should the problem persist, then the MFD should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Q3. With MFD off, when you turn circuit breaker on at the main DC panel, the MFD now immediately initiates power cycle, where before we had to press the power button on the MFD to initiate power up.
A3. Please note that Raymarine MFDs feature a last power state memory feature, permitting the MFD's to be also be switched ON/OFF via the power circuit supplying the MFD(s). In a nutshell, should the MFD have been in the ON power state when the circuit supplying power to the MFD was switched OFF, then the MFD will return to the ON power state when the circuit supplying power to the MFD is energized. Similarly, should the MFD have been in the OFF power state when the circuit supplying power to the MFD was switched OFF, then the MFD will remain in the OFF power state when the circuit supplying power to the MFD is energized. Should your MFD not be performing as specified above, then it would be recommended that the MFD be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Comments on troubleshooting:
v19.03 is the latest available software for the MFD.
As suggested above, it is quite possible that a System Settings and Data Reset may have addressed the issue. It is recommended that the UniController be tested to ensure that by rotating its outer ring, you can smoothly scroll through menus and chart ranges without jumping. If so, then the UniController would appear to be operating normally. If jumping is observed, then the MFD should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to have its UniController bench checked / serviced.

Q4. During troubleshooting, the power button popped off. Doesn't appear to be broken but we are unable to get it back into place so it stays locked in place. Is there a procedure for doing so & if not, can I buy a new power button?
A4. The Power button is part of the key mat assembly (Part #R70152). This assembly is designed to be held in place by the frame separating the key mat from the LCD and by the MFD's bezel.
