[CA] [CA11] C140W slow to respond

Star [CA11] C140W slow to respond
Well, we're out cruising and our normally loyal C140W is behaving poorly. Specifically, it doesn't want to zoom out. When we attempt to zoom out, the waypoints on the display move to incorrect positions, but the actual map does not change size. After some experimentation, we found that if we remove the Navionics chip from the unit, it works pretty well. Of course, in so doing, we lose all the chart updates that the Navionics chip provides.

We installed the chip (purchased through Raymarine) about six months ago and the operation of the MFD was seamless at that point. Sadly, in the last couple of weeks of active cruising, it has slowly gotten worse and is now to the point it doesn't want to zoom out hardly at all. Concerned that we might have overloaded the processor with routes and tracks, we went through and deleted a bunch. Not too many left. It didn't really make a difference.

So wondering what to do. Is the chip going bad? I was told that the chip has a built in battery. Perhaps it is not working properly. The chip is labeled CF/NAV+NI. It is a 16GB chip. Any advice sincerely appreciated! We are headed from Ft Myers Beach to Marathon in a few days and sure would be nice to have a fully operational chart plotter!

David
