RE: [CA11] Connecting eS78 - STNG or RayNet?
Welcome back to the Raymarine Forum 'Dubs,
Q. Can I connect the eS78 via STNG cable to the STNG 5-way connector and have it fully integrate into the network? A. While it is certainly possible to interface the new MFD as a spur to the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone instead of to the system's Ethernet network, doing so will prohibit the new MFD from sharing system resources requiring high bandwidth communications (cartography, radar, fishfinder sonars, IP cameras, thermal camera, marine Satellite weather/radio, waypoint/route/track data, etc.). When interfaced to the system in the manner which you have suggested the MFD would be limited to function as a chartplotter (if a chart card is present within the MFD's memory card reader) and a monitor of GPS, instrument, and system state data. |
