Sv Flip-Flops,

Thanks for clarifying the equipment list and how it has been interfaced. It would be considered normal for a 200kHz instrument depth sounder to lose contact with the bottom at the approximate depth which you have reported. When such conditions occur, the sounder will begin searching for the bottom within incremental depth ranges and continue doing so until it receives a strong enough return for it to report a bottom depth. Until a bottom is found, the reported depth should appear as dashes. Please note that when operating the vessel in a manner which would approximate following a depth contour and should that depth be approximately that which the instrument had lost bottom, then it would be expected that intermittent contact may occur. Organics suspended within the water column and thermoclines may trigger briefly displayed depth values associated with the suspended organics or thermocline. Should the problem occur under other conditions and both the i70 and iTC-5 both be operating with the latest available Raymarine product software updates, then it would be recommended that the iTC-5 be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
