RE: [CA11] P70s connect to ST4000WP
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Fred,

General comments: Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. As indicated therein, should the LCD of the ST4000+ or ST5000+ have failed and its autopilot course computer circuitry be operational, then the ST4000+ or ST5000+ may be interfaced to a p70S/p70RS/p70/p70R Autopilot Control Head which instead may be used to control the autopilot. However, should the ST4000+ or ST5000+ require re-calibration, access to dealer calibration menus, etc., then the p70S/p70RS/p70/p70R Autopilot Control Heads would be unable command the autopilot to do so. Accordingly, should the LCD of a ST4000+/ST5000+ have failed, then it typically be recommended that the drive unit be retained and that the remaining autopilot components be replaced with a currently manufactured autopilot components.

Q1. Can I use a single A06047 cable (3-pin) to connect between the two instruments and get full functionality using the P70s?
A1. See the referenced FAQ and comments above. While the specified cable would be used to interface the p70S/p70RS/p70/p70R Autopilot Control Heads to a compatible SeaTalk autopilot, full functionality would not be available.

Q2. Can the ST4000WP be "hidden" inside my Navpod and have the P70s take it's original position on the Navpod, so I have just one instrument displayed. (is there any need to access any buttons on the ST4000?)
A2. Yes.

Q3. Is it correct that power is only connected to the ST4000 and the 3-pin cable will power the P70s?
A3. Yes.

Q4. Any other connections or cables needed?
A4. Negative

Q5. Is it "plug and play"? Or, am I missing something?
A5. Yes. See the referenced FAQ and comments above.
