RE: [CA11] Networking E-125 to Ais 250
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum sharkbite42,
With the exception of Raymarine's legacy AIS250 and AIS950 products, all other Raymarine AIS products featured both NMEA 0183 and SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications interfaces. Accordingly, for all devices other than the AIS250 and AIS950, it would be recommended that the Raymarine AIS product and a78 MFD each be interfaced as a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how a simple backbone may be constructed. Alternatively, the 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications leads / terminals of an AIS product may be interfaced to a 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1-ISO-AIS), which in turn will be interface to a spur socket within the aforementioned backbone. If seeking to save some money and there are no devices (ex. i70S/i70 MFID, N2k to WiFi device, etc.) on the system's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone which require AIS data and should the MFD have a NMEA 0183 communications interface supporting 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications as do your e-Series MFD, then the AIS product may be interfaced to the NMEA 0183 port of any MFD within the system. AIS data will be shared with the system's other MFDs via the Ethernet (RayNet / SeaTalkhs) communications network to that they in turn have been interfaced to. The 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications leads / terminals of an AIS product may either be interfaced the NMEA 0183 Port 2 IN lead of the e127 MFD or may be interfaced to the e125 MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 1 IN leads or NMEA 0183 Port 2 IN leads. After doing so, the corresponding Port's setting must be changed to "AIS 38400" on the MFD which has been interfaced to the AIS product. The color mapping of the e-Series MFD's NMEA 0183 lead may be found within Chapter 4.9: NMEA 0183 connection – Power/NMEA/Video Cable of the a/c/e-Series Installation Instructions. |
