MFD having difficulty connecting to iPhone used as Wi-Fi hotspot

Since the introduction of support for wireless connection of a Wi-Fi equipped a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD to a Wi-Fi hotspot, Raymarine has received a limited number of reports from a/c/e/eS-Series MFDs owners stating that their Wi-Fi equipped a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD is having difficulty connecting to an iPhone which in turn has been configured as Wi-Fi hotspot. While the investigation is still within its preliminary phase, the fault seems to be rooted in use of hidden characters contained within the names which have been automatically assigned to the phone. Should a problem be encountered when attempting to establish a Wi-Fi connection from one's a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD to an iPhone Wi-Fi hotspot, then it recommended that the phone's automatically generated name be deleted and that the name (or another name of your choosing) then be manually keyed into the iPhone.
