RE: [CA11] ACU-200 Drive not detected
Welcome to the Raymarine Offshore,
To troubleshoot, 1) verify that it is being powered ... measure the voltage across the ACU-200's power terminals for 12 or 24VDC 2) verify that the drive unit's motor and clutch (for applicable drive units) leads have not been damaged and are securely mated to the corresponding terminals of the ACU. Ensure that the jaws of the terminal plugs are clamping on conductors rather than insulator. 3) verify compatible software ... if the version of software within the ACU is incompatible with the EV-1 CCU, then the reported symptom may occur. Note the version of software within the EV-1 CCU and update it if found to not be current. Should the problem persist thereafter, then switch off power to the entire system, unplug the EV-1 CCU from the backbone, switch power back ON to the entire system, and then verify whether the About System diagnostics feature of the autopilot control head lists the ACU. If so, then update the ACU-200's software. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing actions to be taken following a software update to the autopilots components. 4) Check for continuity and shorts within the R12112 ACU to STNG Spur Cable. Disconnect the ACU to STNG Spur Cable from the ACU and backbone. Use a multimeter which has been configured to test for continuity / resistance. Check each pin of the cable's SeaTalkng Spur plug to verify that there is continuity between one and only one pin of the cable's ACU plug. Continuity with additional pins would indicate a short within the cable. Likewise, failure of continuity with at least one pin would indicate a an open circuit. Either of these conditions would be indicative of a failure of the ACU to STNG Spur Cable. While not necessary to know the pinout for the SeaTalkng Spur Cable for the purpose of this test, please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. 5) Secure SeaTalkng connections ... unplug the ACU to STNG Spur Cable from the ACU and from the backbone's spur socket. Re-seat the plugs and rotate spur locking ring to secure the ACU to STNG Spur Cable within the backbone networking component's spur socket. Should none of the above address the reported issue, then the ACU should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. |
