Replacing a C-Series Classic MFD with an E-Series Classic MFD

It is indeed possible to replace a C-Series Classic MFD with an E-Series Classic MFD.

Power, radar, NMEA 0183: The Power, radar, NMEA 0183 cables which may be interfaced to the C-Series Classic MFD will simply be unplugged and then connected to the corresponding sockets of the E-Series Classic MFD.

SeaTalk: Should the C-Series Classic MFD be interfaced to a SeaTalk bus, then the SeaTalk cable will be unplugged from the C-Series Classic MFD's SeaTalk port, will then be spliced to corresponding SeaTalk leads of the E-Series Classic MFD's SeaTalk/Alarm Cable.

Fishfinding: E-Series Classic MFDs are not compatible with DSM250 Digital Sounder Modules. Should one presently be installed onboard, then it would need to be replaced with a CP370 Sounder Module ... the CP370 is compatible with transducers designed for use with the DSM250. A CP370 may be interfaced to an E-Series Classic MFD via a cable assembly constructed from a SeaTalkHS Crossover Coupler, an appropriate length of SeaTalkhs (M) to RJ45 (M) Cable and an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RJ45 Cable. Should the C-Series Classic MFD presently be interfaced to a DSM30/300, then it will be necessary to replace the communications cable connecting these products with a cable assembly constructed from a SeaTalkHS Crossover Coupler and a pair of SeaTalkHS cables of appropriate length.

NMEA 2000: Should the C-Series Classic MFD presently be interfaced to a NMEA 2000 backbone, then the spur cable will need to be unplugged from the MFD's SeaTalk2/NMEA 2000 port and then spliced to an E-Series to SeaTalkng Spur Adapter Cable ... simply match the colors of each cable's leads.

Sirius Satellite Weather/Radio: E-Series Classic MFDs are not compatible with SR50 Sirius Satellite Weather/Radio Receivers. Should one presently be installed onboard, then it will need to be replaced with a SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver. The E-Series Classic MFD wil be interfaced to the SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver via a cable assembly constructed from a SeaTalkHS Crossover Coupler, an appropiate length of SeaTalkHS Cable, and an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RJ45 (M) Cable.

Mounting depth: Please note that should the C-Series Classic MFD be mounted in a pod, then it may be necessary to replace the pod with one designed for use with an E-Series Classic MFD, as the mounting depth of the E-Series Classic MFDs is greater than that of the C-Series Classic MFDs.
