RE: C-80 to E-80 Classic
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Hank,
Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to interface a Raystar 130 GPS Sensor to an E-Series Classic MFD. Unlike a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter, the SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector does not feature a microprocessor which has been programmed to bridge communications from a SeaTalkng backbone to a SeaTalk buss. The SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter's yellow SeaTalk socket is exclusively designed permit the converter to be interfaced to an unpowered SeaTalk bus of up to five devices having SeaTalk communications interface. Although similar in appearance, the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter has a pair of SeaTalkng backbone sockets, a pair of SeaTalkng spur sockets, and a single SeaTalk socket, while the SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector has a pair of SeaTalkng backbone sockets and three SeaTalkng spur sockets. The SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter's yellow SeaTalk socket cannot be used to interface a device having a SeaTalkng communications interface to a SeaTalkng backone. The Raystar 130 GPS Sensor and E-Series Classic MFD's SeaTalk2/NMEA 2000 port (when the MFD has been updated with v5.69 C-Series Classic MFD software) are each designed to support SeaTalkng communications. As at least three SeaTalkng spur sockets are required to interface a Raystar 130 GPS Sensor to an E-Series Classic MFD, it would be necessary to provide the required number of SeaTalkng spur sockets within the backbone by either: - replacing the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter within your system with a SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector or - connecting a SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector, SeaTalkng T-Piece, or SeaTalkng Inline Terminator to the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector via an appropriate length of SeaTalkng Backbone Cable. |
