RE: e165 MFD with legacy GPS antenna RayStar 108
LimaBavo,

Unfortunately, the Raystar 108 as well as the RayData of designs are too old to specify compatibility with a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter or NMEA 0183, as they have not been tested and Raymarine no longer has the ability to do so. In the case of your system, you may wan to consider changing your diagram to show the Type 100/300 autopilot course computer, Raypilot 650, and Raydata interfaced to one another via SeaTalk. The single connection between these products and the MFD would then the bidirectional NMEA 0183 connection between the MFD and the Type 100/300 autopilot course computer. Should the Raystar 108 GPS Sensor support NMEA 0183 communications, then you may want to consider first testing it to supply GPS data to the VHF radio. If successful, then the NMEA 0183 output of the GPS 108 may then be paralelled to supply data to the NMEA 0183 input of both the MFD and VHF radio. As the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 1 will be interfaced to the autopilot, the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 2 would be interfaced to the GPS sensor.
