RE: Product Selection
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum notned74,

Q1. List of the marine electronics products which are presently installed onboard the boat: None
A1. Noted.

Q2. List of the features/capabilities seeking to add: GPS/Plotter, Radar, Auto-pilot, Depth sounder, VHF
A2. Noted. With regard to depth sounding, are you seeking to simply view a numerical value for depth and/or to view a bottom plot (as would be supported by a product having fishfinding feratures)? Will the loud hailing capability be required?

Q3. type of usage: Cruising, Bay and Offshore
A3. Noted.

Q4. type vessel: 49’ Albin Tri-Cabin
A4. It may be possible to install an in-hull tranducer depending upon the thickness of the hull in the mounting location. In-hull transducers may only be installed in hulls which have been constructed of solid, non-cored fiberglass which is less than 5/8" thick in the mounting location. Vessels of this size would typically be fitted with a thru-hull transducer unless stepping up to a CP370 Fishfinder Module or CP470/570 CHIRP Fishfinder Sounder Module. Should one of these fishfinder sounder modules be installed along with a 1kW in-hull transducer, then the hull may be up to 1" thick in the mounting location.

Q5. any physical constraints: Would rather not have to drill through hull, no other constraints
A5. This vessel appears to have two steering stations. Will a display be installed at each station? Of 7", 9", 12", and 16" screen sizes, what size screens would you be seeking for each location. Will more than one display be installed at either steering station?

Q6. type of steering: Hydraulic semi displacement.
A5. When specifying an autopilot for a vessel with hydraulic steering, information concerning the cubic capacity of the vessel's steering ram(s); and if more than one ram is installed, specification of whether the rams have been installed in series or parallel will in turn determine the autopilot components to be installed. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.

Q7. vessel length: 49’
A7. Noted.

Q8. vessel displacement: Beam 15’, Dry Weight 39050 lbs., Draft 3’8”
A8. Noted.

Q9. type of propulsion: Two Ford Lehman 120 hp. diesel engines, props are direct drive straight shaft
A9. Noted

Q10. hull material: Fiberglass
A10. Noted. See the response to Q4 regarding hull thickness.
