Bundled Navionics+ card does have sufficient unused capacity for SonarCharts

While Navionics+ 8GB chart cards are designed to support being loaded with Navionics Nautical Charts, SonarCharts, and Community Edits, it must be understood that most of the chart card's capacity has been pre-loaded by Navionics with Nautical Charts for the entire coastal regions, inland waterways, and most lakes and rivers within North America. Navionics has pre-loaded its Navioncs+ chart cards in this manner to provide an out of box capability to use the chart cards for basic navigation. That said, few owners, if any, will ever navigate all of the navigable waters included within the pre-loaded cartography. This also leaves little remaining capacity on the chart card for SonarCharts. While Axiom, Axiom Pro, and a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs will support use of microSD memory cards having capacities as large as 32GB, the data encryption schema (ntag) utilized by Navionics prevents use of Navionics cartography which has be copied from a Navionics chart card to another microSD memory card.

Accordingly, should one desire to add SonarCharts to a Navionics+ card, it would first be necessary to use the feature within the Navionics Chart Installer application to erase the chart card's contents. After doing so, one may then use the Navionics Chart Installer's features to select Nautical Charts, SonarCharts, and Community Edits and to then render and position a graphical box over the the geographic area that you plan to operate the boat within. When positioning and sizing the aforementioned box, it is recommended that the rendered box be of the maximum size permitted by the Navionics Chart Installer application. This will typically permit an entire region's worth of cartography to be selected (ex. US Northeast, US Mid-Atlantic, US Southeast, US Gulf of Mexico, US Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, Great Lakes, etc. )Should one have need additional assistance with the Navionics Chart Installer application, then it is recommended that Navionics customer support (508-291-6000).

Should you desire a Navionics chart card providing a larger area of coverage and/or Navionics Platinum Plus cartography features (e.g. aerial overlay, panoramic harbor photos, Pilot Book, shore services), then it would be recommended that one consider visiting a Navionics retailer to purchase a Navionics Platinum Plus chart card(s) providing coverage for the region(s) to be navigated.
