Is there Really an Issue with Mounting Axiom 9 within 1 M of Compass?
The Axiom 9 (E70366) installation sheet (Doc no. 88070-1, 2/17) shows to mount the MFD greater than 1 meter from a binnacle compass. That is essentially impossible on all but the largest sailboats if the MFD is used as the main chart plotter at the helm.
The setup will be as shown in the attached photo with the Axiom 9 replacing the C80 Classic directly above the binnacle compass (0.3 m) away. What issues can I expect? A Mu metal lining in the mounting case is all I can think of at the moment. Thank You Dan |
