Raymarine a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD is not displaying detailed charts
Raymarine a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD is not displaying detailed charts
Please note that Raymarine's Dragonfly and a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs do not feature internal memory which has been pre-loaded with detailed charts. The base maps installed with a software update are simply a crude maps featuring no navigational detail which have been provided to permit the user to view roughly where detailed cartography is available when ranged well out and the chart boundaries layer has been configured ON. Raymarine's Dragonfly and a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs do not feature internal memory dedicated to storage of LightHouse, Navionics, or C-Map cartography. The system is and has always been dependent upon having a Navionics, LightHouse Charts, or C-Map chart card present in the product's microSD memory card reader whenever using the product's Chart application. LightHouse Charts may be purchased from Raymarine's Charts Store. C-Map and Navionics chart cards may be purchased from an authorized dealer of these C-Map and Navionics charts respectively. Please additionally note that each of Chart application pages/panes are designed to be individually configurable with respect to the type of cartography (Navionics Nautical Charts, Navionics Sonar Charts, LightHouse Charts NOAA Vector - US East Coast, C-Map 4D: Navigational, C-Map 4D Raster Chart, etc.) shown. The default setting for the display's Chart application page/panes is Navionics Nautical Charts. It is possible to configure the each Chart application page/pane to show different types of cartography. In this case, it is recommended that you: - verify that chart card has been inserted into the MFD's microSD memory card reader, and - verify that you have configured each Chart application page/pane (MENU-> PRESENTATION->CHART SELECTION) to match the type of charts which have been stored on the chart card(s) which has been inserted in the MFD's microSD memory card reader. Prior releases of a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software had defaulted this setting to Navionics Nautical Charts. With the increasing popularity of Raymarine's LightHouse Charts among owners of a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs, this default setting has now been changed to LightHouse Charts commencing with v17.45. Should the chart screen still lack detailed cartography and - the chart card be inserted within your MFD's memory card reader, and - the Chart application's Chart Selection feature within the Chart application page/pane being viewed be correctly configured to match the type of charts which have been stored on the chart card(s) which is present in the MFD's microSD memory card reader then it is recommended that you verify: - that the Chart Display feature (MENU->PRESENTATION->CHART DISPLAY) has been configured to DETAILED or EXTRA DETAILED, and - that the Easy View feature (MENU->PRESENTATION->VIEW & MOTION->EASY VIEW), a feature which has been designed to declutter the chart, be configured to OFF. Should the problem persist after having addressed the items listed above, then the reported problem may be rooted in a failure of the MFD's memory card reader or in the chart card itself. Each of the MFD's memory card reader slots should be tested for its operational status. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to test the MFD's memory card reader slots. Should the MFD not report a failure during the screen captures, then the chart card should be tested by your Raymarine, Navionics, or C-Map dealer or by Raymarine’s Product Repair Center. Finally, LightHouse, Navionics, and C-Map cartography is encrypted to prevent piracy. Accordingly, should one copy the contents of one of these chart cards to another microSD memory card, then the encryption key which is embedded within the cartography files will not match the microSD memory card onto which they were copied. This will prevent the microSD memory card containing the copied chart files from being used with a Raymarine a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD. RAYFAQ# |
