A65 & EV100 Power Installation ???
Hi, I have an A65 GPS/FF combo, old but love it! On the way is EV100 Autopilot w power hyd pump...going on 23' V8 power boat (ocean going).
1. Do I need to? 2. Should I ? 3. Can I ? Connect the Autopilot to the A65 ??? Why or why not to connect it ? And how to do it? Also, the only Port open on the back of the A65 is the "AUX" port....the others have the Power, GPS, Sonar and nmea/VHF attached to them. thx in advance Justin |

RE: A65 & EV100 Power Installation ???
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Justin,
The A60/A65 Chartplotter and Chartplotter/Fishfinder Displays only feature a NMEA 0183 communications interface to support interfacing them with other products. The Evolution autopilots do not feature a NMEA 0183 communications interface. They feature a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications interface. Accordingly, should one desire to interface an A60/A65 Display to an Evolution autopilot, then it would additionally be necessary to install a NMEA 0183 to SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1-ISO, etc.) between the display's NMEA 0183 port and the powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone which will be created to interface the Evolution autopilot components to one another. As the NMEA 0183 output of the A60/A65 will support supplying data to up to 3 NMEA 0183 listeners, it's NMEA 0183 output may be interfaced to both the VHF radio and to a NMEA 0183 to SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 Data bridging device. Interfacing the autopilot to the A60/A65 Display would then permit use of the autopilot's Track Mode and Fishing Patterns features. Track mode is designed to permit the autopilot to steer to a waypoint or to follow a route. |
