ES127 + Lighthouse v16.47 + ICOM 506 Radio v1.02
Hello,
I have a Raymarine ES127 and ICOM 506 Radio connected via NMEA 2000 with DSC Messages enabled in Lighthouse software. I did a DSC position request to another vessel (nicknamed: ISOS / MMSI# 338159709) and once the VHF received the response it popped up on the ICOM 506 as well as the Raymarine MFD. The VHF displayed coordinates are the correct coordinates. The only problem is the Raymarine showed coordinates that were slightly off. Here is a picture of each taken from the same position request. Does anybody have a solution to the communication issue on the coordinate sentences between the ICOM and Raymarine MFD? It renders the ability to plot a vessels position on the MFD useless. Thanks in advance! Michael |

RE: ES127 + Lighthouse v16.47 + ICOM 506 Radio v1.02
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Michael,
Please note that this is the first such report of a DSC position report from a NMEA 2000 / SeaTalkng data source not matching that received by a DSC VHF radio. Following the receipt of this report, we tested a Raymarine MFD updated with v16.47 software which was interfaced via NMEA 2000 / SeaTalkng to a DSC VHF radio (Ray70) and found that the position report specified by MFD's alert matched that of the DSC VHF radio. As no prior reports of this problem have been received, it is recommended that a NMEA 2000 / SeaTalkng analyzer (ex. Actisense NGT-1 w/NMEAReader software, etc.) be interfaced to the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone to monitor the DSC messaging PGNs to determine whether the coordinates within the 129808 DSC Call Information PGN match the position report on the VHF radio's display. |

Thank you - I do have a Actisense NGT-1 interface that connects to a computer on board and will record the NMEA 2000 sentences next time I'm aboard, hopefully later this week.
I will report back. Thanks again. |

Michael,
Noted. You may also want to examine the Datum setting within the MFD (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->SYSTEM PREFERENCES->SYSTEM DATUM) and report what it is set to should the analyzer testing no yield any difference between the coordinates reported by the VHF radio and those observed within the transmitted PGN. |

Just to follow up,
The DATUM is correct, but it is the ICOM 506 that is putting out the wrong LAT/LON on the nmea2000 network as verified by ActiSense. I talked to ICOM and I have firmware 1.002. I'm told the latest release has a bunch of DSC fixes and is up to v1.005. I will bring the ICOM 506 unit to a service center to get the firmware upgraded this week. Hopefully this does the trick. Thanks |
