[CA11] Installing P79 inhull with another transducer
Hi support,
I currently have two axiom screens linked together in my boat. One is a Axiom 9 screen with the RV100 transom transducer and a linked Axiom 7 DV screen. I just received my in-hull p79 transducer that I wired directly to the Axiom 7 screen. I have been doing some testing for location on my boat for the p79. My boat is a 21 ft center console. I'm finding some interference on the sonar screens when both are running. When one is turned off the interference goes away. The interference is not heavy just some lines pinging on the screen occasionally. I'm guessing since the p79 is a 50/200 it's operating near the same frequency of the RV100 High Chirp?? Are there any setting changes in the Axiom screens or other locations on the boat I should try moving this to? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you! |

RE: [CA11] Installing P79 inhull with another transducer
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Solo_Cam21,
Installation of a 600W 50kHz/200kHz transducer in addition to the RV transducer would typically be recommended for vessels which reported being - unable to hold bottom at planning speeds, and - the problem persisted after dropping the tail of the RV transducer a notch or two below the setting which would make it parallel to the hull's bottom In such cases, the 50kHz or 200kHz fishfinder channel would be monitored when operated at planing speeds. When not needed, then the 50kHz and/or 200kHz ping may be disabled. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing frequency spectrum for CHIRP associated with RV transducers. While some degree of noise would not be uncommon as 200kHz is within the CHIRP frequency spectrum of the RV transducers, it is typically not significant and may be eliminated if the MFD is operating with the latest available LightHouse 3 software (v3.5.40 at the time of this response). Would it be possible for you to send some screen captures (use the option provided by the MFD's Shortcuts menu) showing the interference which you are reporting? How close to one another (linear distance) are the transducers? Has excess cables for these transducers been loosely (6" minimum bend radius) coiled rather than tightly bundled. |
