ST7000 drive unit compatibility
Am contemplating purchasing a Type 2 Rotary drive (Raymarine M81136) to replace the non-functioning ST7000 drive unit for my 38', 12 ton sailboat. I need to know if the Raymarine M81136 will be compatible with the control unit (ST7002 - vintage 2005-06) and the Raymarine course computer - probably from early 1990s. There is no power-assist or hydraulics. The course computer needs to talk to the new drive unit, and the requirements are to be able to turn the auto-pilot on and off, that it will work mechanically, and that it will minimally hold a heading. The boat is used for California coastal and bay sailing.

RE: ST7000 drive unit compatibility
I would need the part number or model number of the course computer to confirm. The year, does not describe the size of the course computer.

I'm actually doing this for my friend who is at sea. All I have at the moment is the serial #300210 for the course computer. The catalogue number is Z083, but that probably doesn't help as it was from the early 1990s. Let me know if you can work with that info. Thanks. |

RE: ST7000 drive unit compatibility
Yes, the Z083 is the model number of the ST7000 course computer. It is an older course computer but it is compatible with the Type 2 Rotary Drive.
