C80 mfd adding sr50/dsm250/260vhf
Hello,
I currently have a c80 mfd with 240vhf attached to a raymarine radar dome. I would like to update the system with the addition of a sr50 as well as a dsm250 fishfinder and a new 260vhf radio with AIS. Currently the gps is hooked to the c80 using Seatalk 2 cable. I see that the sr50 uses seatalk ng... I know the fishfinder dsm250 has a dedicated connection on the c80..so that only leaves the 260vhf and the sr50 satellite radio to connect to the c80. The sr50 shows the connection to the c80 using a seatalk connection as well. Can you tell me what I require as far as cables/converters to connect all of these to my c80. I would also like to know that if I connect the 260vhf to the c80 using NMEA 0183, will I be able to see the dsc calls on the mfd as well as any AIS vessels?? Thanks |

RE: C80 mfd adding sr50/dsm250/260vhf
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum skidrow69,
Unlike the MFDs designs which were introduced after the C-Series Classic MFDs (C70, C80, C120) the C-Series Classic MFDs do not support SeaTalkng communications. The SR50 was designed to be interfaced to the SeaTalk2/NMEA 2000 communications port of the C-Series Classic MFD using the R08264 SR50 to C-Series Data Cable. This data cable must be interfaced to power as well as to the communications ports of the SR50 and C-Series Classic MFD. The SR50's Power Cable must also be interfaced to a power circuit and to the SR50's power socket. As the C-Series Classic MFDs do not feature support for SeaTalkng communications the Ray260 must be interfaced to the R08004 5-Way NMEA 0183 Cable supplied with the C-Series Classic MFD. In a nutshell, you're simply going to mate the MFD NMEA 0183 Cable's NMEA 0183 output leads to the Ray260's NMEA 0183 input leads. Additionally, you're going to mate the Ray260's NMEA 0183 output leads to the MFD NMEA 0183 Cable's NMEA 0183 input leads. The MFD's NMEA 0183 port (MENU->SYSTEM SETUP->SYSTEM INTEGRATION->NMEA PORT SETTING) will then need to be configured for 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications (AIS 38400). |

Thanks for the great info...
Will this hookup allow the c80 to see any dsc calls as well as the ais vessels being displayed on the c80? |
