[CA11] Compass Offset
I have EV1 and p70RS modules.

The p70RS shows a compass deviation of 3 degrees. Do I set the Compass Offset to -3 or +3 to compensate?

tks

Dave

RE: [CA11] Compass Offset
Welcome back to the Raymarine Forum Dave,

Q. Do I set the Compass Offset to -3 or +3 to compensate?
A. Negative. The deviation reported is the maximum deviation sensed by the EV-1 CCU when vessel was taken out for its cruise to determine deviation. Unlike variation, sensed deviation will typically vary with the boat's heading. The Heading value should either be aligned to COG (if the vessel is underway on a steady course (stable COG) and the boat is not being subjected to leeway) or to a known bearing. Range markers are often used for such purposes.
