RE: [TG11] Estimated fuel level and distance to empty at zero
Hello Tom,
Thanks for your reply. To try an answer your questions, in fuel setup I try to enter fuel remaining but the field doesnt change, it remains as two dashes no number. When I use detect fuel message it does not detect PGN 127497. I have performed factory reset as requested and reloaded all data, should I have reloaded current LH3 first. Also have logged N2k data to card and need advice re how to send you the files. Thanks Mark |

RE: [TG11] Estimated fuel level and distance to empty at zero
Hello Mark, sorry for the delay. I've been out doing dealer training.
You don't/can't enter Est. Fuel Remaining: that's the one that's calculated from the other data either entered (capacity, fills) and or received (fuel usage.) To use Fuel Manager effectively you need to:
If you do all this and you have incorrect results then you have incorrect incoming data, and the log-file will show what is wrong. You can post log-files back here as attachments, or upload them to a file-sharing service such as Box.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, MS OneDrive, Cloud etc. and post the link here. RE: [TG11] Estimated fuel level and distance to empty at zero
Hi Tom, thanks for your reply,
I have performed reset and cannot get estimated fuel remaining data to appear where previously it did, it seems odd to me that the data screen shows (engine hours, coolant temp, fuel use as lt per hour) it would seem that nmea 2000 link is working correctly. I have supplied a dropbox link with screen shots and logged n2k data, I hope the link works, very new to this, Regards Mark https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gkn1ck9k4zie0...aNqIa?dl=0 |

Hi Mark,
One question - what value do you have programmed in Fuel Set-up > Total Fuel Tank Capacity? Thanks, Tom Raymarine since 1999. RE: [TG11] Estimated fuel level and distance to empty at zero
Hi Tom,
Not quite sure I understand the question. I have set the tank capacity to 100 lt. The frustrating thing is the "estimated fuel left" ability worked perfectly and accurately till something fritzed. Many thanks Mark |

RE: [TG11] Estimated fuel level and distance to empty at zero
Hello Mark,
Ok, I think I have the problem. Here is a snapshot of the data you've sent: Code: 127488: 09f20000 00 3B 0B FF FF 00 FF FF 3384.62330 (Engine params, rapid) Inst=0 RPM=718.8 Boost_press=65.5kPa Tilt=0% What we can see here is that the fuel flow rate in message 127489, Engine Parameters, Dynamic (0.9 litres/hour at that moment) is perfectly reasonable, but the Trip Fuel value in 127497 Trip Parameters, Engine has obviously not been reset by the engine system for a long time, if ever (378 litres). This means that with your current setting of 127497 as the default fuel data source, as soon as the MFD receives a single message containing this value, the system is being told, effectively, that all of the fuel has already been removed from the tank and shows zero remaining. I'd therefore recommend setting the fuel data source message to Fuel flow rate (PGN 127489) instead, which should work fine. I've tested this with my test Axiom with your data and the newly-released v3.10 software and it works fine. Regards, Tom Raymarine since 1999. RE: [TG11] Estimated fuel level and distance to empty at zero
Hello Tom,
As requested I am now using (Pgn 127489) and as a result CAN use the the "estimated fuel remain function". I have for the moment used the "fill tank function" and subtracted an amount for the time being till I can establish the correct amount of fuel left, and this was done at home with (ignition on) engine not running. When the weather improves I will run some sea trials and report back. Tom, many thanks for your patience Regards Mark |

That's good news Mark, let me know how you go after the trials.
