[CA11] Autohelm ST4000 and Element S
I purchased Actisense NGW-1 so my Autohelm ST4000 will receive wind data from the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, and I'm curious about the extent of additional functionality this will give me...
1. I assume with this I will be able to use ST4000 to hold apparent wind angle? 2. If I program a course on Element S will ST4000 hold a course with multiple waypoints? 3. Is there any other functionality I will realize by connecting my ST4000? Thanks! Andy |

RE: [CA11] Autohelm ST4000 and Element S
Andy,
When interfaced to the ST4000 autopilot in the manner specified, Wind data from your legacy ST60 Wind instrument will be supplied to the autopilot to support all of the wind related features specified within the ST4000 Autopilot's Owner's Manual. Additionally, should a Go To Waypoint / Cursor command be executed from the Element display, then the ST4000 autopilot may be commanded via the ST4000's buttons from Auto mode into Track Mode. More information concerning the Track mode may be found within the ST4000 Autopilot's Owner's Manual. Should a Follow Route command be executed from the Element display, then the ST4000 autopilot may likewise be commanded via the ST4000's buttons from Auto mode into Track Mode. Each time that the vessel enter's the arrival circle of a route waypoint, the operator will be notified via both the MFD's user interface and the ST4000 autopilot's user interface, permitting the autopilot to commence steering to the next waypoint of the route. No additional functionality would be expected. |
