[CC11] ST8002 Cable Sheared
My autopilot has been working intermittently last season. It is now not working at all. It powers on and captures a heading in standby but if I touch "auto" it cannot not and will not assume control and I can still steer the boat even though the display reads "auto". Also turning the knob does nothing. I did some trouble shooting and went behind the head unit to find a cable which appears cut/corroded. I've attached pics....

RE: [CC11] ST8002 Cable Sheared
Hello Brewster16 and welcome to the Raymarine forum,

The cable you are indicating is sheared is a NMEA0183 cable and would only bring waypoint data to the Autopilot. It is not needed for the basic operation of the display. From what you are discribing the ST8002 is failed. We would recommend getting it tested or swapped. Please see our dealer finder fir a lost of dealers in your area,

Thanks for your response. As an NMEA0183 cable (sheared) could that have been associated with a DSM 300 depth sounder?

RE: [CC11] ST8002 Cable Sheared
Your welcome, the cable would have nothing to do with a DSM300.
