[CC11] SH GX2200 AIS connections to Axiom 9rv
Hi,
I have a Standard Horizon GX2200 which outputs AIS data via nmea0183 but also has its own AIS output wires.. This was working on my E90W as the e90w has NMEA0183 input so I was connecting NMEA out (as I was using the GPS data to the E90W. I know the Axiom doesnt have NMEA0183 so I purchased the NMEA0183 to SeatalkNG kit. The cable has a red and yellow wire on it. My GX2200 has AIS output wires, NMEA0183 Output Wires and NMEA0183 Input wires.

Should I be connecting to the AIS output wires, the NMEA output wires and if so, which goes to + and - and what baud rate should be set on the GX2200 for the Axiom to receive the AIS data?

Thanks

Hello unixdood,

The STNG to NMEA0183 converter will not work in this application. It only outputs gps data.
The bidirectional Actisense STNG to NMEA0183 converter will allow you to interface the Axiom to the 2200. https://www.actisense.com/products/nmea-...way-ngw-1/

Chris,
Why would I need Bi-Directional? I only have an AIS receiver on the GX2200? I only need to display the AIS data on the MFD? This worked fine on my E90W before I upgraded to the Axiom. I purchased the 0183-STNG hub kit for this. Did I waste money?

Hello unixdood,

Q1-Why would I need Bi-Directional?
A1-You do need the NMEA0183 out from the GX2200 to the NMEA0183 in of the STNG(Axiom) to get the AIS data to the Axiom to display on it.
The STNG-NMEA0183 converter is a "Out" only converter. It cannot take NMEA0183 information and put it on the STNG buss.

Q2-I only have an AIS receiver on the GX2200?
A2-see A1

Q3- I only need to display the AIS data on the MFD?
A3-see A1
