Drive Type Selection
I am recommissioning an SPX 30 autopilot with ST70 controller after updating the AP software. The boat displaces approximately 36000 pounds, has a Simrad RPU160 reversible pump (160-550cc) being used with a Seastar HC5319 cylinder (226.4cc). Would you recommend specifying drive type 1 (80-230cc) or drive type 2 (230-350cc) for this boat?

baja [censored],

As autopilot course computers and actuator control units are specified to match the maximum capacity of the pump to which it will be mated, it is recommended that Type II drive be selected when commissioning. After commissioning, it is recommended that you check that the hard over to hard over time is satisfactory for the vessel.
