RE: Type 300 Course Computer 12V
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Gary,

Any of the ST600x and ST700x Autopilot Control Heads would be compatible with a Type 300 Autopilot Course Computer. As the ST800x Autopilot Control Heads cannot be used to configure the Type 300 Autopilot Course Computer, they are not considered to be compatible with a Type 300 Autopilot Course Computer. The problem which you have reported is indicative of a communications failure between the autopilot control head and autopilot course computer. These autopilot control heads may be configured to display a number of different data items (see the autopilot control head's users guide or Chapter 3 of the S1, S2, S3 Commissioning Guide). Should the autopilot control head be verified to be able to display data (Depth, Water Temp, COG, SOG, etc.) from the system or respond to alarms triggered within the system, then the fault would appear to be rooted either in:
- the SeaTalk cabling which is interfacing the autopilot course computer's SeaTalk terminals to the SeaTalk bus, or ... recommend performing continuity testing and verification that the SeaTalk cable leads have been connected to the SeaTalk terminals matching the colors of the SeaTalk cable's leads (red, yellow, and silver (shield)
- the SeaTalk communications circuitry of the autopilot course computer ... the most common means of testing the autopilot control head would be to interface it to an autopilot control head or to Raymarine product which would support displaying heading or rudder angle. As Raymarine can no longer provide parts and service for the Type 300 Autopilot Course Computers, a failure of the autopilot course computer's circuitry would necessitate that the autopilot course computer be replaced.
