MFD Drain wire

MFD Drain wire
I have searched the forum and FAQ's before initiating this question.
I am installing an a125 MFD which I believe has a drain wire. From the forum answers I was expecting to see a bare wire for the RF drain (as did my old Pathfinder plotter). The supplied cable(s) are all insulated. There is a small black insulated wire similar in size to the NMEA wires which seems to me to be the drain wire.
Is this correct or does my model not have a drain?

Many thanks.

Bob

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bob,

What specific model of a-Series MFD do you own?

RE: MFD Drain wire
Bob,

The a9x/a12x MFDs utilized the same Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable as do the c/e/gS-Series MFDs and eS9x/eS12x MFDs. The lightest gauge wire having a black insulation jacket is the drain lead within these cables.

RE: MFD Drain wire
That's what I thought but noticed references to twisted bare wire on the forum. Thanks for the clarification Chuck.

Best regards,

Bob
