Can a MFD running LightHouse II software be interfaced to a MFD running LightHouse 3?
Can a MFD running LightHouse II software be interfaced to a MFD running LightHouse 3 software?
LightHouse II software does not support simultaneous use of MFDs running LightHouse 3 software within the same Ethernet communications network in which MFDs running with LightHouse 3 software. Of the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs, Raymarine has unfortunately determined that only the eS/gS-Series MFDs have the processing power required to support many of the LightHouse 3 software features. Accordingly, a/c/e-Series MFDs will neither be able be updated with nor be able to run LightHouse 3 software. On 31 January 2018, Raymarine released LightHouse 3.3.170 software Axiom/Axiom Pro MFDs and for LightHouse 3.3.170 software eS/gS-Series MFDs. Should a system feature a/c/e-Series MFDs and eS/gS-Series MFDs, then it would not be recommended that the eS/gS-Series MFDs be updated with LightHouse 3 software unless adhering to the changes specified below. Should a system feature eS/gS-Series MFDs and it be desired to add and Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFD to the system, then it would not be recommended that the eS/gS-Series MFDs be updated with the latest available LightHouse 3 software which is supported for both eS/gS and Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs. As indicated above, LightHouse II software does not support use of a/c/e-Series MFDs within an Ethernet network in which additional includes MFDs running LightHouse 3 software. However within a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, it is possible to include a Data Master MFD running LightHouse II software and a Data Master MFD running LightHouse 3 software. When so interfaced, communications between the LightHouse II MFD and LighHouse 3 MFD will be limited (i.e. alphanumeric GPS, depth, instrument, navigation, and system state data) between the MFDs. Chart, radar, fishfinder sonar, camera video, thermal camera, SiriusXM Satellite Weather / Radio resource sharing and other data intensive features requiring Ethernet communications will not be supported by a LightHouse II MFD and a LightHouse 3 MFD which have been interfaced via SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications.
