MFD shield wire connection
I am completely revamping my sailboat from Patherfinder/ST gear to eS97, a125, STng, etc. The power/data cables for the MFDs have shield wires, which the manual says to hook to the RF ground or -12v. My RF ground is isolated from -12v to eliminate DC loops. What is the internal connection of the shield? simple VOM measurements suggest that they are capacitively coupled.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Craig,

Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. When installed in the manner specified within the referenced FAQ, the Raymarine electronics will not result in a ground loop.
