[CA] ST70 No Pilot Message
I have an ST70 and SPX30 unit and I'm getting a message of "No Pilot"
Can someone help me and let me know if there is anything I could test to see what is going on. I have tested the power comming into the X30 is at 12.5 and the ST 70 turns on and I could scroll through the set up menu. I have attached pictures so you could see how the x30 and the st 70 are wired if that helps. Thank you |

RE: [CA] ST70 No Pilot Message
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Danny,
The symptoms reported are indicative of a failure of SeaTalkng communications between the autopilot control head and the autopilot course computer. Should these two devices be the only devices which have been interfaced to the SeaTalkng backbone and should the autopilot course computer be powered, then the problem may be rooted within SeaTalkng communications circuitry of either device or a may indicate fault within the SeaTalkng networking components. The FAQ found here may be used to determine how to test the SeaTalkng networking components of SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Should you need a technician to perform these services, then it would be recommended that a Certified Raymarine Installer be contacted. Should no fault be identified with the SeaTalkng networking components, then it would be recommended that both the autopilot course computer and autopilot control head be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. |

RE: [CA] ST70 No Pilot Message
Hey Chuck,
Can I connect the display directly to the course computer via the seatalkng plug/cable coming from the computer for a reliable test? I tried this appraoch with a (functional) course computer I borrowed from a friend, but I'm still getting No pilot. THanks. Steve |

RE: [CA] ST70 No Pilot Message
Steven,
SPX autopilots and ST70 autopilot control head are not designed to be directly interfaced to one another. These devices must each be interfaced as a spur to the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone. Communications between the products may then be verified by using the ST70 autopilot control head's Diagnostics menu to list the system's devices. If the ST70 list the SPX autopilot course computer then communications has been verified. |
