Ohming masthead

Ohming masthead
I read and followed the FAQ for the masthead wind sensor. It appears that the sensor is out of spec. The power supply, at the junction box near the mast, reads 7.94V. Both position sensors are in the 1.6V range. The speed voltage is about the same but doesn't vary in gusty wind.
The failure is intermittent. I used a spare ST60 indicator and the problem shows up with it, too. The ST60's show the wind at 0° and - - - for the wind speed. Cycling power may clear the problem temporarily.

Can I ohm the sensors to find out whether the masthead connection is dirty, or the sensors are history?

You and I may agree, but we could both be wrong.

RE: Ohming masthead
Only field test is the voltage test with the masthead I would recommend that the masthead be sent to the below address to be evaluated by a service technician for repair.

Raymarine Service Center
9 Townsend West
Nashua, NH 03063

Include in the box:
Name
Daytime Phone
Return address
Brief description of the issue

RE: Ohming masthead
We're in transit on the ICW, ruling out waiting on shipping and turnaround time. We'll replace the masthead unit; the logistics are far easier to sort out.
