There isn't any test in the field to test the course computer, but the course computer is looking for a range of resistance between port and starboard to display rudder reference data.

for future reference:

You’ll need ensure you have 5VDC voltage supplied to the stick. Then connect a multimeter connected to white wire and measure the voltage you’re getting going from hard over to hard over.

You should be getting a reading of 2.2v from hard over going to 2.8v to hard over to the other side. If You’re unable to get this reading then the smart stick is at fault.
