[CA11] Axiom Pro and Autopilot
Building a new boat with new electronics. Going with 2 Axiom 12 Pro, Magnum radar and considering adding autopilot. Not clear what all is needed for the autopilot. Hydraulic steering is integrated in the Evinrude G2 (300 twin). Does the axiom act as the smart controller. It isn't clear from the product brochure how they act together

RE: [CA11] Axiom Pro and Autopilot
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum dekarate,
With regard to Evinrude's G2 hydraulic steering system (utilizes hydraulic helm) and adding/installing an autopilot to this steering system, a hydraulic power pilot will be used and it will be installed in a manner identical to that of any other hydraulically steered vessel. The G2 steering system has an equivalent steering ram cubic capacity of 8.9 cu. in.. Raymarine Type 1 Hydraulic Pump should be installed within such systems. For vessels having a 12VDC power distribution system which will utilize a Type 1 Hydraulic Pump, Raymarine offers the T70330 EV-150 Hydraulic which includes the following components: - p70Rs Autopilot Control Head - EV1 Sensor Core - ACU-150 - Type 1 Hydraulic Pump - Evolution Cabling Kit To interface the MFD to the autopilot, you will need to add an additional spur socket to the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone which will interface the Evolution autopilot components to one another. Finally, as the NMEA 2000 socket of the Axiom MFDs features a DeviceNet micro-C (M) plug, Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how this plug may be adapted to be interfaced to the added spur socket. |
