[CA11] NMEA 0183 Connection from Garmin to Raymarine
I have a Garmin Echomap DV54 chartplotter that I would like to connect to my Raymarine ST6001 Course computer and Standard Horizon DSC VHF radio. I would like to know if the attached connection schematic will do the job. Thanks for any input, advice or guidance.

RE: [CA11] NMEA 0183 Connection from Garmin to Raymarine
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mark,
Your diagram is incorrect with respect to how devices having a single ended NMEA 0183 communications interface must be connected to devices having a differential NMEA 0183 communications interface. Please click here to view the FAQ addressing this subject. |

RE: [CA11] NMEA 0183 Connection from Garmin to Raymarine
Thanks, Chuck. Follow-up question: Which device(s) is/are the differential, and which is/are the single-ended?

Mark
If you examine the Raymarine product's documentation and/or interface terminals, you will find that the NMEA 0183 input and output ports each feature a pair of terminals ("+" and "-") denoting that the product's NMEA 0183 ports are differential. The Garmin product which you have identified features single ended NMEA 0183 ports. |
