[TG11] ST8001 auto pilot
I have an 2005 ST8001 connected to two E120s though Sea-talk. I've been having issues with it and was wondering if a ST8002 would be ok as a replacement and if the ST8002 would work with the existing remote control?

RE: [TG11] ST8001 auto pilot
Hello Eirinnrose,
Yes, certainly you can replace an ST8001 with ST8002. That will have no impact on the way the system operates. Alternatively, the modern p70RS will also work. Connect via a D244 3-way Seatalk1 junction block and A06073 ST1-STNG adaptor cable. The p70/p70S/p70R/p70RS can talk to older pilots through either Seatalk1 or SeatalkNG (NMEA2000), which is why a simple adaptor cable will work in this instance. Don't use one of our Seatalk1-SeatalkNG convertors in this case (these are required if you need to translate between the two languages, but as I say, the p70RS can talk either language directly.) Regards, Tom Raymarine since 1999. Interests: Diagnosis of problems in sonar/fishfinders, NMEA2000, ethernet comms, autopilots, thermal cameras Location: Sydney, Australia. Please don't PM me asking for direct support, please ask a public question instead so that others can see the question and answer. Forum posts will always be answered before PM requests. |

RE: [TG11] ST8001 auto pilot
Thanks Tom, Much appreciated. My ST8001 jumps several degrees with just turned a degree or two. Looking for something so I can pull mine and still have an auto pilot.
